The Mundane, Yet Significant

A more ‘seasoned’ mom stopped me as I was slogging thru the grocery store one day with 4 kids hanging out of/on the cart, touching seemingly EVERYTHING, talking incessantly, etc…she told me that she remembers ‘those days’ in her life; that she certainly has an easier, cheaper, (and quieter!) time getting thru the store now that her kids are long grown; but that she wanted to remind me to ENJOY EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT….because they would be gone before I know it.

She also shared what I thought was a great idea…to take simple photos of the messy house/over-piled laundry room/fridge stuffed to the brim/each of the kids rooms/etc at various times throughout their childhoods because, she said, “there will come a time when you are desperate to remember all of those details, which you probably think right now, that you will be able to…but trust me, you won’t…so take pictures of all of those mundane and frustrating things that drive you crazy right now because you will miss them like crazy in the blink of an eye.”
