Blists Hill Victorian Town

We went to an early 20th-century Victorian town…

Blists Hill Victorian Town is an open-air museum built on a former industrial complex located in the Madeley area of Telford, Shropshire, England. The museum attempts to recreate the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Shropshire town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”

By the end of the day, Andres said that we wanted to come back again the next day.

People in era costumes were in the banks, bakery, post office, mine, pharmacy, church, doctor’s home and so much more to ask questions and give a running history of life I that period of time.

We listened to two gentlemen singing and playing the piano in a saloon, bought bread from the baker, learned about the early post office, how to make candles from animal fat, saw a boat that use to be part of the world-wide commerce trade via the nearby river Severn, listened to a fascinating story of the steam engine that powered the mine and so much more.

Some buildings were taken from other locations and brick by brick moved to this location and reconstructed.

At the bottom of the pictures below are a few photos of Patrick, who invited himself to beg from an empty chair at the breakfast table this morning.
