We decided to take a day ‘off’ and explore a new part of Colorado. We ended up at 11 Mile State Park in Lake George…what a gorgeous spot! So glad our good friends the Hummell’s were able to join us. The kids had a blast collecting crawdad’s at the reservoir and putting them into a ‘gladiator ring’ on the top of a huge rock. We had a freezing cold, windy picnic there, then headed a few miles up the road to a beautiful National Forest Service canyon. Thankfully we were more protected from the wind there! We played by the river, leap-frogged on the rocks, and had a beautiful day.
It ended with dinner out with the Hummell’s and the kids racing around playing tag/hide-and-seek….a long, exhausting, wonderful day!
