We took a homeschool “field trip” today and drove down to Bents Fort, a national historic site in La Junta, CO.
We had a blast with our sweet friends, the Hummell’s and learned a ton! What an amazing experience Bents Fort was…..a trip back in time to the mid 1840’s when 2 brothers and a friend, all with a TON of vision, created a “multi-cultural” trading post that brought Apache, Comanche, Mexicans, and settlers all together with a spirit of respect and acceptance. Amazing re-creation of that place, and those times, with rooms FULL of historical artifacts that could be touched/felt.
