Waterfall Hike & Chocolate Factory Tour

We had a great hike up to a beautiful waterfall with our guide, Mr. Vaughn. Along the way, we learned about all kinds of plants and crops like nutmeg and the cocoa tree that produces chocolate. The actual chocolate beans were covered in a slimy paste that had a very sweet, fruit flavor. After getting over how awful it looks, the kids ate them all!

The hike up to the waterfall was very difficult, going through streams and climbing over large rocks. At the top of the hike, daddy swam in the pool at the bottom of the falls.

Another 30 minutes or so up the road was the chocolate factory. From what we learned on the hike to the chocolate factory tour, we were able to see the entire harvesting to production process… from the plant to bean fermentation, and machines inside that produced the actual chocolate. It was fascinating to see all the various stages.

At the end of the day, we came back and snorkeled off the doc at our vacation rental. We saw giant puffer fish, lionfish, and a barracuda among others.
